By Patsy Gerstner

Henry Darwin Rogers was once one of many first specialist geologists within the usa. He directed of the earliest kingdom geological surveys--New Jersey and Pennsylvania--in the mid-1830s.  His significant curiosity was once Pennsylvania, with its Appalachian Mountains, which Rogers observed as nice folds of sedimentary rock. He belived that an interpretation of those folds could result in an knowing of the dynamic procedures that had formed the earth. From Rogers' efforts to give an explanation for those Pennsylvania folds got here the 1st uniquely American concept of mountain elevation, a thought that Rogers for my part thought of his most important achievement.
